The Occupational Health and Safety Act prescribes, through the Electrical Installation Regulations, who may carry out electrical installation work and in this way protects users of electricity. The Act also gives protection to the public by means of a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) which every user or lessor of an installation is obliged to possess, and should ideally be provided every time a house changes ownership.

The ECB Inspector will strive to improve the Home Inspection Industry by sharing his/her lessons and/or experiences for the benefit of all. This does not preclude the Inspector from copyrighting or marketing his/her expertise to other Inspectors or the public in any manner permitted by law.

The ECB Inspector shall assist the ECB leadership in disseminating and publicizing the benefits of ECB membership.

The ECB Inspector will not engage in any act or practice that could be deemed damaging, seditious, or destructive to ECB, fellow ECB members, ECB employees, leadership or directors. Member(s) accused of acting or deemed in violation of such rules shall be reviewed by the Ethics committee for possible sanctions and/or expulsion from the ECB.

The Labour Relations Act provides for the self-regulation of Industries through the medium of Bargaining Councils. NBCEI is a Bargaining Council as envisaged in the Act whose mission is to create and maintain industrial peace and stability in the Electrical Industry. It provides the following services

  1. Forum and facilities for Collective Bargaining.
  2. Settlement of Labour Disputes.
  3. Provision of Social Benefits for the upliftment of all persons falling within the Industry.
